Dear Parents

It is with great pleasure that I offer you and your child a warm and friendly welcome to
Sudley Infant School and look forward to meeting you.

Both my children have passed through Sudley Infants and they have enjoyed the “Sudley experience” and been VERY happy and so it is not just my own, but also their recommendation that I pass on to you as a new entrant to our school.  This recommendation is based, not only on the high standard of teaching that each child receives at Sudley, but also on the whole educational environment at the school.

Our school prides itself on not just being about the “three R’s” but also on providing our children with an environment where they are happy and will grow and learn, and so building a solid foundation for their future education.

All our parents are encouraged to be a part of Sudley Infants, by helping out in school, taking an active part in our Parents and Friends’ Association (SIPFA) or as a parent governor when vacancies arise.  We are very proud of being one of very few schools which operate an open door policy which means that you can see your child into the classroom each day and gives you the chance to have contact with your classteacher should you have any worries or concerns.  This not only means that you can ensure that your child is settled before you leave them but gives you the opportunity to see them in their school setting and to be involved in that - they are usually very proud to take you into their world … and are very quick to tell you if you do something you should not!

The governing body is responsible for overseeing the policies and general interests of the school and to ensure that the school is run for the benefit of all. We work in close partnership with the Headteacher who has responsibility for the day-to-day management of the school.  If the need arises, both the parent governors and myself can be contacted through the school. If you should have any problems then your first point of contact should be your classteacher.

Over the last few years we have seen some major work completed at the school which has most recently resulted in a new teaching block providing a new classroom and a kitchen area where the children have experimented with various cooking projects!  We have also now opened a new reception area which was developed with our children’s safety in mind and ensures that all visitors to the school are seen at the reception before gaining access to the school.

Our recent Ofsted gave us overall 'outstanding' in all areas - terrific!

I know as a parent that your child’s first few years are vitally important (and will pass by all too quickly) but I hope that we can work together to make these first years a positive and HAPPY learning experience for you all.
